LAMP Community Health Centre presents two workshops on anxiety

A new coalition for Children and Youth mental health, a network  of professionals  across the province say that mental health issues are the number one problem facing schools today.

LAMP is hosting Two workshops on mood disorders in youth, one for youth, one for parents.  LAMP is a Community Health Centre at  185 Fifth Street, Etobicoke, ON  M8V 2Z5

The first workshop for youth is on anxiety, how to identify it, how to manage and control it, when and where  to go for help. The date is Wednesday November 21st @ 5:30 pm at LAMP Community Health Centre in the community room. The Guest Speaker Jennifer Foulds with the Mood Disorders Association will speak from lived experience.

The second workshop is for parents. An  Introduction to mood disorders in youth and a talk from parent who has an 11 year old child who has always had anxiety. This parent, who has recently written a book ‘Just Like You’,  will give her thoughts on how to help and support  children with anxiety. The workshop will be held Wednesday December 5 in the community room, time 6: 30 pm.

Leanne Needham the co ordinator of youth and family programs at the Mood Disorders Association will also give a brief introduction to  mental health issues and youth. This workshop will also take place in the community Room LAMP Community health centre 185 Fifth Street.
