Summer Garden Maintenance and Tree Watering

It’s that time again.  Each summer we have a team of staff, students and/or parents who help maintain the trees and beds in the renovated front garden.  This year we have 4 newly planted trees – two more Kentucky coffee trees, and two more Tulip trees, thanks to a grant from PaperMate Canada.  The grant was made possible by the people at Tree Canada.

The summer maintenance routine takes about one hour, once or twice a week, depending upon how hot and/or dry the weather is in any given week.  You have to be able to be at the school between the hours of 7am and 3pm in order to gain access to our watering equipment.

The assistance of staff and/or parents is appreciated with thanks.  Students are eligible to earn community service hours for their participation.

If you are interested in signing up to cover one summer week, please send an e-mail to enid.wray@tdsb.on.ca.  Please indicate which week (or weeks) you are able to cover.  We will put together a roster based upon preferences as indicated.

Thanks in advance.

P.S.  Environment Canada is forecasting average temperatures and above average precipitation this summer. See the maps at <https://weather.gc.ca/saisons/image_e.html?img=sfe1p_s>
