YAM Youth Leader Volunteer Opportunity

Yam is looking for a new Youth Leader for our YAM (Youth Arts Movement) program. YAM is a free program for youth ages 13 to 19 which offers workshops with professional artists eachTuesday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

A Youth Leader for YAM needs to be a committed, mature, responsible youth (preferably in grade 10 or 11) who has an interest in the arts and good leadership skills. Their role is to assist the Youth Programs Coordinator with aspects of managing the YAM program such as:

  • Attending YAM sessions on Tuesdays
  • Chairing program committee meetings once a month (the committee reviews artist resumes, organizes budgets, etc.)
  • Organizing committee meeting agendas and meeting minutes
  • Moderating the YAM committee Facebook group
  • Connecting with other YAM members; contacting to remind them about workshops, meetings and volunteer opportunities
  • Taking the lead with volunteer initiatives; setting a good example for other youth to follow
