Toronto Book Award 2014

Screen Shot 2014-10-07 at 6.19.14 AM

Established by Toronto City Council in 1974, The Toronto Book Awards honour authors of books of literary or artistic merit that are evocative of Toronto. Read about this year’s nominated authors and place a hold on their book. For more information about the Toronto Book Awards, please visit the City of Toronto’s website.

In honour of the 40th anniversary, each shortlisted book has been paired with a Toronto champion.

Champions include:

  • Television personality Elaine Lui (The Wondrous Woo)
  • Maureen Jennings of Murdoch Mysteries fame (The Massey Murders)
  • Food policy analyst Wayne Roberts (The Stop)
  • Filmmaker John Greyson (The Hungry Ghosts)
  • Toronto Star’s Chris Hume (Kicking The Sky)

Watch their videos and vote on your favourite read to win a prize.

Voting closes on October 16th.  Drop by the ESA Library and take a read between now and then if you like.  We have all but one of these books already in our collection.

And if I might be so bold… do consider voting for our special “Friend of ESA” Anthony deSa, a Toronto Teacher-Librarian who will be back again this year to workshop our Writer’s Craft classes in November…
