- Gorgeous. Beautiful. Sensitive. Compelling. Funny. Heartbreaking. This book will make your heart sing.
- Slow to start, this book will have the tears streaming down your face.
- I read this book at the cottage surrounded by blackflies and in-between paddles on perfect glassy water… if you can, read it outdoors in the wilderness as it will make the entire experience that much more authentic for you.
- This book provides so many opportunities for frank and honest conversations about depression, suicide, family, responsibility, expectations, fears, bullying, personal strength… I’m not sure I can even articulate/predict all of the other conversations that could arise…
- I loved the interplay between the stories and the voices and the letters and the looking back. I could totally relate to the wilderness trek and thoroughly enjoyed the cast of characters. (I won’t go so far as to include ‘Bob/Peace the slimeball’ in that group though… but I get that he’s ‘real’)
- I love – and feel for – Ingrid. I loathe and despise Margot-Sophia – but I get her.
- The portrayal of depression – hidden depression – may strike many just a little too close to home.
