Welcome to this week’s edition of ‘Throwback Thursdays @ ESA‘… where we feature, each week, one ‘classic’ recording from the ESA Performance Archives.
This week we feature the complete 1991 Christmas Concert.
- This is the earliest Christmas Concert recording I’ve found so far.
- This version is complete, including the Holiday Raffle which used to be standard at all Christmas Concerts.
- The concert has changed names over the years, to reflect the times… Originally called A Christmas Celebration, it then became the Christmas Concert, and is now simply called the ‘Festive Celebration.’
- Two things have remained constant. Great performances all round, and a rousing rendition of The Hallelujah Chorus to finish off the evening.
