A Chorus Line

Our Music Theatre Dept is proud to announce that we have cast our exciting version of A Chorus Line – which will feature ALL of our senior MT students on stage and some essential students running the show backstage! All of the directorial team have contributed to the extremely challenging task of quadruple casting most of the show – showcasing approximately 80 students in roles and ensemble. All students will benefit from our guest choreographer Steven Roberts (recently performing with the Broadway touring company of ‘Mary Poppins’), Co-Directors – Paul Aikins and guest artist Sharon Heldt, and vocal direction for all students, Patricia Warnock. We are also excited to have the incredible talents of Michael Vieira, helping coach all singers in the show and leading the talented Pit Orchestra, in collaboration with our Music Department. All students will have the opportunity to experience Technical Theatre, in units with our guest artists (on sets/props/costumes) Leslie Wright and Ming Wong. All students will help with the technical creation of the show, which often opens doors to new career interests in the world of theatre. We will continue with our community outreach to allow patrons in the community to advertise in all programs in MT and Music – providing great exposure to their business or cause. Performance dates of each grade/cast will be announced in January before ticket sales go public. Co-curricular rehearsals are well under way and we look forward to a positive experience for all students in the senior grades with this huge endeavour. All students have been given acting assignments regarding the development of their character (major or minor) and we have also provided assignments and coachings to help students who are not featured in an acting role, with a Comedic Song unit. We look forward to seeing you at the shows and we hope for your continued support to help our students be resilient during this process. Please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Ms. Warnock with any concerns or issues, especially regarding attending rehearsals/class. (Attendance during the class major is essential for the creative team to complete the direction of this show during class time and for the cast to remain as a team). We are hoping that evening rehearsals will not commence for most students until January – with hopes that these rehearsals are primarily the week before Feb 6 performances commence. A detailed schedule from Oct-Dec has been provided to students and will be posted shortly on this website. January tech schedule will follow closer to December.
