Canadian Art in Isolation – a Community Opportunity

ESACA and all interested! We have been asked to assist grad Margaux Smith and curator Tatum Dooley in a powerful project, Canadian Art in Isolation, to provide art work for senior’s rooms in Long Term Care facilities during this period of social isolation.

Living with art is crucial for well being and a connection to the world. This project will help us push back the anxiety of the pandemic and engage with hope.

We are asking for our community to donate art works on canvas or paper suitable for a general audience. There is a need for hundreds of works. See a piece in the Toronto Star about the project here: https://www.thestar.com/life/2020/04/20/stirring-torontos-creative-juices-to-provide-art-for-isolated-seniors.html

The project website can be found by clicking here

If you would like to donate art work for the project there is a blue bin to receive work on the front porch at 895 Royal York Road, not too far from the school, where you can leave paintings and drawings any time.

We will also work towards securing donations of electronic tablets to share digital images with residents and provide much needed technology for GTA LTC homes. If you can assist in securing donations of tablets please contact me at matthew.varey@tdsb.on.ca

I look forward to receiving ESA community contributions!
