Our Community

The ESA community – students, teachers, alumni, parents, guests – share a passion for the arts and a commitment to supporting a vibrant environment for learning and performing.

Students
Our students participate in music concerts, drama productions, dance shows, film screenings and visual arts exhibitions throughout the school year. Students are committed to the performance schedule and rehearse at school for hours beyond the school day. Ours is a dynamic, passionate, and creative world where we practice, perform and create individually and communally throughout the school. Walking through our halls is a wonder of talent on exhibition with people dancing, playing piano, figuring out ides together and getting along.

Our student-run athletic council supports numerous sports. Our common lunch allows all of us who wish to participate in intramural sports. We are competitive in the West Region of the TDSSAA in a large number of sports. ESA has developed a strong history of competitive teams, including a recent run of championships.

Beyond arts and athletic activities, our students are involved in student council, KOWS (kids offering willing support), Black History Month, our annual outdoor music performance Solstice, ECO schools, ESA Ambassadors and our annual Because I Am a Girl concert. For more information about majors, academic life, student support services, intramural and extra curricular activities, see Student Life at ESA.

Teachers
Many of our teachers are dedicated to their arts focus and provide an extensive extra-curricular program, including sports, artistic and charitable events.

Post-Secondary
More than eighty per cent of our students pursue post-secondary studies. Our science department has graduating students attending top universities such as Queens for pure sciences, Waterloo for computer engineering, McMaster for life sciences, Western for biological and medical sciences, McGill for arts and science and Guelph for environmental science.

Parental Involvement
Parents are active through School Council and SESAT.

Ward 3 Trustee: Patrick Nunziata
Our Trustee is Patrick Nunziata. You can read more about Mr. Nunziata and keep up-to-date on current issues at the Ward 3 webpage.

Special Guest Artists
We host many visiting artists who have professional credentials in each area of study. Collaborate and learn from choreographers, music accompanists, professional musicians, visual artists, costume designers and set designers.

SEEDS (Student Educators for Environmental Development and Sustainability)
SEEDS began in September 2006. We hold regular events throughout the school year.  These events are designed to raise environmental awareness and to raise funds for our various projects.  We have established a small arboretum (all native species) at the back of the school.  Currently we are in the mid stages of a total renovation of the gardens at the front of the school.  We welcome new members – students and parents.  If you would like more information, or to be added to our e-mail list, please send an e-mail to esaseeds@mac.com.
Presently we are a Gold EcoSchool.  Please follow us the SEEDs website or on Facebook.
