ESA Cross Country

The ESA cross country team took part in its second mini-meet of the season on Monday, September 30 at Stan Wadlow Park again. Though only a small group of 10 ESA runners competed, we really impressed. The day started off with a bang as Julia Jairath and Alana Park finished 8th and 9th in a colossal grade 9/10 girls race, with Olena Leshchyshen not far behind in 37th and Deanne Balas in 60th. The next standout performance of the day was run by Carly Turner, running her first race since last year’s OFSAA championships, and came 11th in another 200+ athlete field in the senior girls 5km race. Other very strong showings were put forward by Malte Zumbansen (90th), Simon Pella (106th), Dylan Vogel (124th), Joseph Train (210th), and Natasha Matar (171st). To put things into perspective, Malte, Simon, Dylan and Joseph’s race had over 300 runners!Wednesday October 2 is the next mini-meet, this time closer to home at Centennial Park, and we look forward to another great showing!
