Born and raised in Toronto, Mike Manny started taking piano lessons when he was 5 years old with the Humber College – Music Education for Children Program. He continued his music training throughout high school at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, post-secondary education at Humber College, and eventually, graduate studies at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York City. After studying in New York, Mike returned to Toronto where he freelanced throughout Southern Ontario in various jazz settings and local Salsa bands. Working at the Toronto Faculty of Music, he was the conductor and music arranger of the Toronto All-Star Big Band for 10 years. After starting his military career in the Artillery Reserves, Mike transferred to the Regular Force as a full-time musician in Ottawa, and was subsequently posted to Winnipeg in 2009. As a musician in the Canadian Armed Forces, he has travelled the world performing music. Although not currently playing with the military band, Mike continues to perform as an in demand, professional musician in Winnipeg. Although he prefers ‘straight-ahead’ jazz, his huge appreciation of other genres of music allows him to he move comfortably thorough various styles giving audiences a diverse musical experience.
