Currently in Nashville, TN, Madison is pursuing a career as a professional songwriter. Recently (2018) Madison was selected as part of a group of songwriters for ASCAP’s GPS program, an initiative that pairs up and coming songwriters with prominent Music Publishers in Nashville.
She started writing songs while at ESA. In fact she recorded her debut – Don’t Be a Stranger
– album during senior year. She wrote the title track as a goodbye to her friends at ESA. Since that album, Maddy has released a couple of EPs and some singles with support from FACTOR and the Ontario Arts Council. Some of her songs have been played on some radio stations in Canada and the US. She has won a few songwriting competitions like the International Acoustic Music Awards, the UK Songwriting Contest and the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (Grand Prize and Lennon Award). Her song Tahiti appeared in an episode of Army Wives (ABC Studios) and her song Un Poco de Ti was featured on an episode of Switched at Birth (Disney/ABC). Maddy attended the University of Toronto for a couple of years, but decided to put that part of her life on hold to focus on songwriting as much as possible (working part time). She is currently living in Nashville, Tennessee on an O1 Visa (“O-1 nonimmigrant visa is for the individual who possesses extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics…”) travelling back to Toronto frequently.
