I invite parents to join me on Monday October 29th at 7pm in the ESA library to discuss what goes into visual arts, design, architecture, and fashion post-secondary school applications and portfolios.
Given our potential for successful applications and scholarships, it would be useful to discuss how parents can help navigate the difficult and laborious process our grade 12’s will undertake over the next 8 months. I will discuss strategies for organising the portfolio/application process in order to secure the best possible scholarship opportunities.
I am happy to show examples of portfolios and discuss strategies for securing funding and increasing initial scholarship offers. At this point we have 50 schools from eight countries scheduled in the 2012 2013 year to speak with/review our grade 12’s work. Portfolio Day 2012 is shaping up to be our most successful so far.
In order to establish clarity around potential, possibilities and best practices it would be wonderful to have you all attend. Parents, if willing, can play a huge part in this process that can lead to significantly increased success.
All parents at ESA are welcome to attend, including parents of students in any grade if they would like a sense of what is coming up. I noticed at Commencement this year that a significant number of non-visual arts students had gone on to art-based post-secondary programs and I want to make myself available to parents of students in the other majors with children who may want to pursue such a path. Much of what I will cover is very much applicable to film and photography students, and students interested in architecture, fashion, and design.
See you at 6.55pm on Monday October 29th!
