Do you have a spare couch about which you would be prepared to donate to the ESA Library?
- While “beggars can’t be choosers”… the couch would need to be (somewhat) attractive, durable and in decent shape.
- We’re not looking for the couch that is ready to be put to the curb!
As part of the Library’s on-going commitment to supporting Mental Health and Wellness initiatives here at ESA, we are preparing to turn one of the rear Seminar Rooms into a “Walden Room”… an inviting space for anyone who needs it to find a little peace and quiet and tranquility.
- This will be a space for quiet contemplative study and/or a space where anyone dealing with a stressful situation may seek privacy and/or sanctuary.
The idea is evolved from William Powers’ book Hamlet’s BlackBerry: A Practical Philosophy for Building a Good Life in the Digital Age. You can find a summary of the concept in an article from The Globe and Mail.
If you have something you think might be suitable, please send a photo to enid.wray@tdsb.on.ca.
Thanks in advance.
