Student Vote 2014: A Success

Congratulations to everyone who participated in today’s Student Vote 2014…  our Deputy Returning Officers, Poll Clerks and, of course, the voters.

We had a total of 249 students cast ballots, of which 237 were accepted, 7 were spoiled and 5 were declined.

Our local ESA results are under a media blackout until the close of polls next Thursday, June 12th.  At that time both the actual poll results as well as the Student Vote results from across the province will be announced.  I will also post the ESA specific results, so you can compare our vote to the actual Provincial Vote.

Stay tuned…

While I’ve got your attention…  Advance Notice!

ESA is signed on to the City of Toronto’s Student Connect programme.  This programme is designed to “connect students with their communities and provide youth with a meaningful opportunity to participate in the democratic process by working in a voting place on election day.”

As a result, come September, I will be looking for 30 ESA students to be employed by the City of Toronto to work the municipal election, to be held on October 27th.  Positions are available for students to work as Tabulator Officers, Accessibility Officers or as Information Officers.  These positions pay between $150 and $162 for the day.

If you would like to be considered for one of these position, either send an e-mail now (to enid.wray@tdsb.on.ca) or listen to the announcements and/or watch for the postings here on ESA Info come September.
