Success in the Visual Art Department

It has been a most successful year for the Etobicoke School of the Arts Visual Arts Department!

At time of writing Etobicoke School of the Arts Visual Art grade 12 students have received almost $2 million dollars in scholarship offers!

Here are a few of our other achievements this year:

ESA students won 248 awards (including 128 Regional Gold medals!) in the 2013 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards which represents roughly 50% of all awards given to students around the globe outside of the US. In the National Award round, of the 44 Gold and Silver medals awarded to Canadians, 24 went to students from ESA! Selections from those works will be exhibited at Carnegie Hall in New York at the end of May and tour for two years.

Grade 11 ESA Visual Art student Izzy Burgwin will be exhibiting at Saatchi Gallery in London, England this April – Saatchi Gallery, Duke Of York’s HQ, King’s Road, London, SW3 4RY https://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/portfolio/

Grade 11 ESA Visual Art student Kevin Nguyen will be exhibiting his work in both across Australia and in New York City this year after winning international art competitions!

Our Annual Portfolio Day event attracted its largest ever number of schools this year. On November 9, 2012 we had 46 schools from 7 countries attend to speak with our grade 12 Visual Art, Photography, and Film students about their portfolios. Many students were offered acceptances into schools that day, and scholarship offers were made. As far as we know this is the largest Portfolio Day event of its kind.
