That’s a wrap.
I am officially retired after 29 years of teaching… first at West Humber CI – until I went on maternity/parental leave – and then at ESA for the past 19+ years.
I have been honoured to be a part of many wonderful communities of people over the course of these years. Whether it be the individual school communities, including parents, or the wonderful world of Geography and Social Science, or more recently, working in the warm embrace of the Teacher Librarian community.
While I am truly indebted to the colleagues and parents I have worked with over the years, many of whom have become cherished friends, it is my students to whom I am most indebted.
I have been honoured to have met so many incredible young people over the course of my career. You have kept me young – at heart – and pushed me to be the best person I can be.
I have also had the good fortune that so many of you have become good friends as well. I look forward to being able to spend more time nurturing these important relationships now that my time will be a little more flexible!
I must say however – without prejudice to any earlier grads in any way – that this year’s ESA graduates are an exceptional lot.
Commencement last Thursday night was the most spirited and hopeful ceremony I think I’ve ever attended.
We’ve been through a lot these last few weeks, as a school community, but the passion and energy of the 2018 grads has restored my faith in humanity and made me hopeful that we will make it through this, and be better, and stronger.
We will move forward and you will change the world.
This knowledge makes me profoundly happy.
Now to begin the next chapter in my life…
Until we meet again.
Cheers
Enid Wray
