Turn Off Your Sites!

May 5th, 2015 marks the first ever “Turn off Your Sites 24 hour Challenge. A mental health week initiative.

There is no doubt the over use of technology has been creating a great deal of stress amongst our teenagers, not to mention adults alike.

The purpose of the day is to turn off all social media for a 24 hour period beginning at 9am, May 5 and ending at 9am the next day.

Etobicoke School of the Arts, (ESA) is spearheading this exciting adventure. ESA is the first school to start the challenge. Teachers, family and friends are also joining the students.

It is an opportunity, and for many individuals, a welcome one, to consciously turn off social media and feel free from it for 24 hours.  It is also a chance to feel more empowered by making a personal choice to turn off for the day.

Although a challenging initiative, most people are welcoming it with open arms.
